Conditions for the annual Civil Service cross country races at Stormont estate yesterday were dry with a cold wind and mostly pretty firm underfoot. City of Lisburn fielded athletes in a number of races, ranging from the senior women down to the primary schools age group.
The senior ladies raced over 3.5 miles with Judith Lowry 11th in a good quality field in 22:42, exactly a minute ahead of Heather McLarnon who was 15th. In the U13 2km races Harriet Matchett was an excellent 3rd place in 8:26 with Peter Hemphill 6th boy home in 8:35.
Nearly 140 boys lined up for the Primary Schools race over 1km. Sean Terek was first Lisburn athlete home in 17th with Ben Ritchie 25th. Star Lisburn performer of the day once again was Kate Gourley who won the Primary Schools girls race ahead of Olivia Neill who was 6th.
