KELLY SETS NEW NI 1500m RECORD

Kelly McNeice finally broke club-mate Amanda Crowes NI 1500m record in Gent Belgium tonight. Amanda’s record was set in the Commonwealth final in KL when finishing sixth in 4m10.68.
Off a steady pace Kelly burst clear of the field with 150m to go however was overtaken in the last 30m finishing fourth in 4m10.3. An ecstatic Kelly said ‘I’ve been training for ten years for that!’
Its been a busy week for Kelly running three races in six days. Last Wednesday Kelly achieved the NI Commonwealth games standard when finishing sixth in 4m12 at the European athletics permit meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Stepping down to 800m on Saturday in Birmingham Kelly ran a seasons best of 2m04 at the BMC 800m A race, before pacing the 1500m for 1k.
Kelly has three weeks left to achieve the 4m09 for the World Championships in Berlin.
