Lisburn Half, 10K and Fun run

Midweek run in warm, sunny conditions City of Lisburn middle distance athletes took to the roads around Lisburn. The tough half marathon route took the runners up and down the steep hilly course towards Hillsborough and through Ravarnet finishing via Altona industrial estate before the long climb up the Hillsborough road to the finish in the Recreation Centre.
First home for the club in 79th place was Gerard Donnelly in a new PB of 1H32m47, closely followed by Paul McCullagh in 82nd place timed at 1H32m59 also a PB. A few minutes later, Diane Watson, finished also with a personal best over this course with 1H36m26. These were tremendous runs by all three athletes who worked together to achieve their times on this course.
The 10K course also finishes on the same uphill route; City of Lisburn had four athletes competing. First home in 11th place was Dave Lonnen winning the Over 45 category timed at 37m06s followed by his other half Mrs Judith Lonnen in 41st place in 39m59s. Declan Morgan ran close to his best time and was home in 40m30s in 47th place. Meanwhile, Mel Minshull, still breaking down a personal barrier, won the Over 45 category in a new personal best time of 44m46s.
Andrew Watson, Diane’s husband and their two young children competed in the 5K fun run. Dad had to be content with grabbing a photo from behind as Eve aged 6 and Ella Rose aged 4 as they bolted for the finish line.
