Lisburn successes at N Down Open Meet

Tuesday night saw a small City of Lisburn squad travel to Bangor for the North Down Youth open meet where there were some good performances.
In the U13 boys category Thomas Quinn ran a PB of 14.0s to win the 100m before adding gold in the shot and placing second in the long jump. Christopher Larmour had a good outing, taking home a pair of bronzes from the sprints.
Callum McLaughlin had a promising debut over 400m in the U15 category, winning in 58.0s before adding 100m silver (12.5s).
Katie Larmour took home the prize for best overall athlete in the girls U15 category after an excellent double victory on the track. Her 13.4s 100m was a PB although hand-timed and her 300m time of 44.8s suggests potential over the longer sprints. Phoebe Tan took silver in the high jump with U13 Alix Galbraith placing 4th (but 1st U13). In the throws there were medals for Jodie Savage who was second in the javelin with Madison Bowyer placing 3rd.
In the U17 category sprint star Erin Quinn also won the overall athlete of the meet award (shared with North Down thrower Beth Wilson). Erin dipped under 13 seconds for the first time in the 100m (unfortunately hand-timed only) and knocked two seconds off her previous best when winning the 300m in an excellent 42.9s – a time which also suggests a possible future over the longer sprints. Anna McIlmoyle won the high jump in a routine 1.50m just 2 days after her Scottish silver in 1.60m.
Well done to all the Lisburn squad on their performances and thanks to North Down AC who by all accounts put on a very enjoyable meeting.
