A number of City of Lisburn athletes took the chance to compete in the first Open Meet of the indoor season at the UUJ indoor facility last Wednesday night. There were a number of encouraging performances and a handful of PB’s too.
Megan Marrs deserves a special mention as she produced three personal bests from the three events she contested. At high jump she added 1cm to her previous best with 1.55m and threw 7.53m with the senior 4k shot. The highlight however was a flying 9.32s 60m hurdles which places her inside the top ten in UK for 2011 at under 15 level.
Adam Hill was another to record a couple of lifetime bests with a splendid 1.80m high jump and 9.18s for the 60m hurdles, plus a 5.68m long jump. Andrew Hutchinson recorded 9.13s in the same hurdles race.
Sam Wallace matched his outdoor best in the high jump with 1.45m while also recording a 10.99s 60m hurdles time plus 8.73s for the 60m flat.
