UK Schools Games

City of Lisburn had two athletes representing Northern Ireland (nominally Belfast for this event) at this weekend’s UK School Games. This has grown to become a large-scale muti-sport meet and a good late season competition for the athetes to aspire to. It was the North East of England’s turn to act as hosts this year, with the athletics being held in Gateshead International Stadium.
Libby Rose recovered from her heptathlon victory last weekend to produce a 12.54s run in the 80m Hurdles (wind -1.1m/s). This performance placed her 7th. Caris Greenwood has been consistent at 30 metres in the discus this summer and produced 30.36m here in the second round, which also left her in 7th.
Well done to both the girls on their selection and on posting very respectable late-season performances. Kathryn Wallace was a reserve for this meet but was not called upon on this occasion.
