Day 2 results Scottish Indoors
Sun 16 February 2014--admin
Another very successful showing for the CoLAC athletes on the second day of the Scottish Indoors at the Emirates Stadium.
The U14 and U16s were competing today and they showed that even in the youngest age group we have athletes more than capable of competing at this level.
Five athletes travelled to Glasgow with Jake the only male representative this time. Nonetheless he represented the boys extremely well with an excellent PB of 2.05.63 in the final of the U16 800m to place 4th, despite having run a heat earlier in the day.
Our other U16 was AnnaS who tackled both the jumps and finished well up the field in both events equalling her HJ PB of 1.45m which she set last weekend in our regional championships.
Our youngest athlete, HollyM will still be eligible for the U14s next year and she managed PBs in both the 60m (9.37s) and hurdles (11.17s) along with competing in a huge long jump competition.
Shannon also ran in the U14s 60m reaching the semi where her PB of 8.79s left her just short of qualification for the final. She exceeded that result in the long jump with a further PB performance of 4.32m to place her 5th in a field so large that 2 pools were required.
The undoubted star of the whole weekend however was surely AnnaMcC who sprinted her way through heats, semis and final to the gold medal achieving a PB of 8.26s along the way. Not content with that she then high jumped to a second gold with another PB performance of 1.45m. I have no idea where she found the energy to then long jump 4.43m to a bronze medal to replicate her haul from the Ulster championships last weekend. Imagine how well she might have done if she hadn’t been unwell enough to require antibiotics!!!
Absolutely amazing performances.
