Many City of Lisburn athletes have qualified through to the Ulster Schools this Saturday from district B (Belfast / South Antrim).
Sylvia Rose qualified in both the Senior Girls 400m hurdles and long jump with two 2nd places. Congratulations to Hollie Johnston who won both Long and Triple jump including a district record in the latter of 10.54m.
In the Intermediate Boys, despite lacking in competitions this year James Megarity produced a huge 12.39m shot to win by a metre, with more to come for sure.
Libby Rose tackled a rare shot / sprint hurdles double – which only a multi-event specialist could attempt. Both events were won in style with a fast 12.4s 80m hurdles and a huge season’s best in the shot, re-producing her training form with a great 9.05m. Her school mate Kathryn Wallace bagged a title of her own with a superb 30m hammer throw and also qualified behind Libby in the shot.
In the junior girls Jane Atkinson will have a busy day at Antrim on Saturday after winning her sprint hurdles in a swift 11.7s and also qualifying in the high jump. Katie McComb made it safely through in both sprints and Rebecca Harvey was second qualifier in the 800m.
Caitlin Rose had a fine win in the Minor Girls high jump with 1.34m and Natalya Ritchie showed her versatility in winning the long jump backed up with 2nd in the shot. Katie Larmour is the district 100m champion and Zoe Carruthers had a great run for 2nd in the 800m.
Well done to Jack McComb who took 2nd in a very tight Minor Boys 100m race and also qualified in 3rd place in the Long Jump.
Good luck to all City of Lisburn athletes at the Ulster Schools Championships this Saturday.
