Coaches needed urgently!
Tue 21 June 2011--admin
Anyone who has been at the track recently on a Monday or Thursday night will have noticed that the numbers of young athletes attending club nights has increased signficantly from last year. However, to be able to work with them and provide continued quality coaching across the range of events we require more coaches.
For example we know that there are many parents of our young athletes who were athletes themselves and who may now wish to pass on some knowledge to a new generation. Perhaps there are people out there who have never competed as an athlete themselves but who would like to start learning how to coach and to become involved?
City of Lisburn AC promotes a multi-discipline approach with our young athletes, having fun and learning the basics well at Fundamental stage (typically age 8-11) before progressing to Foundation stage and being introduced to “proper” athletics events including the hurdles, throws and jumps.
If you would like to become involved or find out more please speak to one of the committee at the track. All coaching is done on a voluntary basis but for those willing to commit to helping out regularly a contribution will be made by the club to the cost of completing the UKA Coaching Assistant award. The next course is in October, with more details on the Athletics NI website.
