Runher – Stormont 15 May

Rachel Gibson has enjoyed consistent success in the Runher women-only races since they began a few years ago. Today saw the latest version of the series in the familiar surroundings of Stormont Estate but with a new route for the 1200 or so ladies who took the starting line for the 5k and 10k events.
Rachel was once again amongst the prizes, taking 3rd in the 5k in 20:14 (unofficial), looking strong in the closing stages where she came close to catching the second placed athlete. Rachel is something of a Runher celebrity after her remarkable sequence of prize-winning runs in the series and she took the customary post-race TV interview in her stride!
Caitlin Lynness was winning medals on the track at the schools’ districts champs at Bangor on Friday, and today her mum Lynn made a successful comeback after her latest “baby break”, finishing in 4th place to Rachel. Alison Gibson had a good run herself in the 5k, before also handling a post-race interview with aplomb!
