Victoria Park Parkrun

Matt Shields and his North Belfast Harriers team have ensured that the Waterworks Parkrun in North Belfast is now well established, attracting close to 200 runners most Saturday mornings. Thanks to the superb efforts of Orangegrove AC, Belfast now has it’s second weekly 5k Saturday morning Parkrun. This new one is at Victoria Park in the East of the city, accessible via Connsbrook Avenue off the Holywood Road and will set off at the slightly earlier time of 9am every week.
In the same week as their good runs in the Belfast City Marathon relay, Callum and Peter Shaw made sure that City of Lisburn were represented at the debut event. Peter ran well to finish as first Junior Male in 19:14 and 8th overall, while dad Peter was 2nd M45 in 21:12 ( 20th place overall).
It was good to see nearly 70 runners complete the run, while numbers over at the Waterworks were as strong as ever. No doubt more City of Lisburn “Parkrunners” will check out the new course in the near future.
