There were many good runs from City of Lisburn athletes at yesterday’s Ulster Schools cross-country championships at Mallusk. Pride of place must go to Madison Bowyer who won the Year 8 Mini race. Madison has won a number of titles on the country this winter but this latest run must rank as one the highlights of her young career. Also featuring well were Lisburn club-mates Rebekah Douglas in 4th and Harriet Matchett and Naimh Madden who both made it into the Top 10. Caitlin Lyness was 11th and Lucy Smyth 14th.
South Antrim district champion Zoe Carruthers took a bronze at the Ulsters in the new Year 9 Minor age group and will be looking forward to the Irish Schools race. Jonathan Whan has also made it to the Irish Schools after finishing 10th in the Junior Boys race (year 10), along with Rebecca Harvey and Francesca Brown who were both in the Top 10 in the Inter girls race.
